Headteacher's welcome message
Welcome to Norton in Hales CE (VC) Nursery and Primary School.
I have had the privilege of being Headteacher at Norton in Hales CE Nursery and Primary school for a number of years and it is an absolute joy to be involved in shaping the lives of the children educated here.
The Early years and Primary years are incredibly special and our priority is that each child enjoys their every moment at school; children have one opportunity for the education that will form the basis of their lives, and at the same time one childhood – our aim is to keep a happy balance between the two.
At Norton in Hales CE (VC) Primary School we work together as a team to celebrate and value the unique contributions of each individual child and adult so that everyone can flourish.
We provide an enriching and exciting educational experience here at Norton, equipping and inspiring each child ready for the next stage of their educational journey and indeed, beyond. We encourage the children to give things a go and not be afraid to fail, and most of all, teach them that the most important characteristics for them to possess are: Kindness, Respect, Enthusiasm, Determination and Courage (Our Christian Values).
We are committed to broadening educational opportunities; widening access to the school and having an outward-looking approach in all that we do. We strive to make a transformational difference to the lives of the children at Norton and those that we support, knowing that this will enable them to go on to make a difference in the lives of others.
We are incredibly lucky to have access to our Forest School site gifted to the school by a local resident. We also have opportunities to carry our field work and ponding dipping activities at the wild life bird hive.
We are located in a beautiful village which has won the Heart of England in Bloom competition in the village category several times. The village has also won national RHS Britain in Bloom level three times, culminating in being declared The RHS Britain in Bloom Champion of Champions on several occasions. A successful outcome was gained by virtue of then gaining a Britain in Bloom gold medal at the 2019 results ceremony and so the story continues.
The children enjoy the excellent sporting facilities in the village for tennis, cricket and crown green bowls as well as a well-appointed play area for younger children. We are proud of the fact that we have nurtured several county cricket and tennis players.
One of the most notable buildings in Norton in Hales is the St. Chad's Church, which dates back to the 12th century. The church is a Grade I listed building and is known for its impressive architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. The church is still in use today by the school children, local residents and visitors further afield.
The culture and community at Norton is truly distinctive and something that really stands out to both our current parents and visitors to the School. I would encourage you to come and see us for yourselves but in the meantime, I do hope that this website gives you a taste of Norton life.
